Teaching people how to use visual art and expressive writing to better relate to themselves and others is one of my greatest passions. I’m a longtime journal writer, workshop facilitator, and illustrator. My formal education includes a degree in English Literature from Simon Fraser University and studies in Fine Arts (drawing, painting, art history) from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. I am a member of The International Association of Journal Writers (IAJW) and I’ve been studying journaling for health and wellness at The Therapeutic Writing Institute for the last two years. I recently completed The Art of Journal Coaching, a 12-week immersive course taught by renowned creativity coach Eric Maisel, PhD and IAJW’s Lynda Monk.
As a Journaling Coach, my goal is to support you in using expressive writing and art-making in your journal to:
- Develop greater self-awareness
- Nurture self-compassion
- Foster healthy self-care practices
- Identify worthy goals aligned with your core values
- Engage in creative problem solving
- Take bold steps towards achieving your goals
Journaling is a valuable self-coaching tool. Through simple journaling exercises and guided reflection, you can learn how to:
- Express your thoughts and feelings in a safe and self-nurturing way
- Improve your physical and mental health
- Take time to care for yourself
- Grow both personally and professionally
- Get in touch with your abundant inner wisdom
If you are interested in learning new journaling techniques that you can use as a self-coaching resource, you’ve come to the right place. I’m a passionate advocate for integrating journaling into mainstream health and wellness practices. Journaling is accessible and affordable. There are no special tools or supplies needed to get started—a pen and a few sheets of paper will do the trick!
